Gott im Himmel! We're back with another part of the NVA's (Nationale Volksarmee) experimental uniform - the UTV (Universale Tragevorrichtung …or is it Uniformtrageversuches...) gas mask bag!
That's right, UTV gas mask bag. Untarnished by the woes of conflict, these are in fantastic condition and are only soured by years in storage - so maybe a bit squashed or dusty.
Made from canvas with a rubberised backing, these have a small pocket on the outside and 3 internal partitions made with fabric, for storing your gas mask bits. These divisions are made from the same outer fabric, so they are non rigid - very flexible (and probably easily removed if you feel like it). The bag has belt loops and wire to attach to your UTV webbing belt. Like the older strichtarn bags (with the grey webbing system), these would make great side pouches on bikes or shoulder bags with a bit of DIY for straps! Some may scoff at modifying these items, as these are fairly collectable, from an extinct country.
